PCB Defined

Polychlorinated Biphenyl, a synthetic, organic chemical once widely used in electrical equipment, specialized hydraulic systems, heat transfer systems, and other industrial products. Highly toxic and a potent carcinogen. Any hazardous wastes that contain more than 50 parts per million of PCBs are subject to regulation under the Toxic Substances Control Act.

BREAKING NEWS: Ministry approves large-scale PCB blood tests for London

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has received approval for nearly $1 million from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to fund a large-scale blood testing survey of people who may have been exposed to PCBs (polychlorinated Biphenyl) in and around the Pottersburg Creek and the former Westinghouse plant in north east London.
